This research-heavy project explores how algorithms have shifted from invisible tools to active cultural agents that shape what we see, hear, and value, both online and in real life. From curated playlists to targeted content feeds, our experiences are increasingly filtered through systems designed to maximize engagement, not creativity. The work reflects on a near future where interfaces evolve based on real-time user data, visuals are personalized by machine learning, and digital identities blur with algorithm-generated avatars. It considers both the opportunities, like tailored education and niche community building, as well as the dangers, including cultural homogenization, misinformation, and ethical concerns around autonomy and identity in a data-driven world. This group project invites viewers to question who is truly in control of their digital experience, and what gets lost when culture is calculated.
